I. Introduction
Establish June 25th, 2002, Striked is an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) network that provides the users of it's network with a safe and friendly chat environment with professional, and knowledgeable IRC Operators. Striked reserves the right to scan all connecting clients for insecure (open) SOCKS, Proxy, or Wingates. Users that violate this Striked Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) will be removed on a temporary or permanent basis depending on the severity and nature of the offensive actions, or violation of this AUP; or other agreements.
II. Terms of Use
Connection to the Striked IRC network is a privilege, not a right. Striked reserves the right to deny access to its network without advanced warning and without being under any obligation to provide a reason. Where a reason is provided, it is done so at the discretion of Striked. By retaining a connection to any part of the Striked, you state that you know and are willing to comply and accept these as well as any future terms of service, network policies, and user guidelines.
Striked is an unmoderated chat forum made possible by the donations of its Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and volunteer staff. By connecting to Striked you accept that you are a guest on a private system. Your privilege of use is revokable at any time for any reason. Further you accept that you have no claim to any data maintained by Striked that you have used.
The administration of the Striked does not log or monitor any traffic that may pass through their servers for content or clarity.
No responsibility for computer damage, data loss, or any other related damage shall be implied by any Striked server administrator. By using any Striked server, you hereby state and agree that you release the Striked, its servers, administrators, IRC Operators, and any other volunteer of the Striked from all responsibility or legal liability which might result from your use of Striked servers, or services.
All clients connecting to Striked will not use the network to engage in illegal activities, including the transfer of child pornography and/or harassment of other users. Striked does not tolerate any channels that encourages or supports harassment. Advertising, cloning by multiple client connections, flooding by repeated send of text or CTCP commands, use of profanity or harassment of other clients are grounds for immediate and permanent removal from the network.
Striked cooperates fully with local, provincial and federal authorities with investigations of Internet abuse and fraud.
The formation, construction, and performance of the AUP will be construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of British Columbia. If any provision of the AUP is held invalid or unenforceable, the remainder of the AUP will nevertheless remain in full force and effect. If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable with respect to particular circumstances, it will nevertheless remain in full force and effect in all other circumstances.
III. Available Services
A. Nickname Registration
Striked provides nickname registration services via "NickServ". Clients can register their nickname(s) to prevent others from using that nickname, to register channels and receive memos. Striked limits nickname registrations to five (5) nicknames per email address. Nicknames that are abusive by profanity or used to harass will be deleted and will be made unavailable to be registered. After 31 days of non-usage, nicknames are dropped from the services database. Striked IRC Operators will never ask you for your nickname pass. Should you disclose your nickname pass to anyone, Striked is not responsible for recovering the nickname.
B. Channel Registration
Striked provides channel registration services via "ChanServ". Clients can register their channel(s) on the network after they have registered a nickname. ChanServ allows for channel operator assignment, as well as management and security functions. Channels that are used for illegal activities such as child pornography distribution or harassment of other clients will be closed immediately. After 21 days of non-usage, channels are dropped from the registration database. Should you transfer the channel to anyone, or disclose the password to anyone, Striked is not responsible for recovering the channel.
C. Memo Services
Striked provides memo services via "MemoServ". Clients can send memos to other clients on the network after they have registered a nickname. Clients that send abusive memos will be placed on Services ignore and/or be removed from the network on either a temporary or permanent basis.
D. IRC Operator Services
Striked provides voluntary assistance with IRC Operator personnel on an as-available basis. Official Striked channel for IRC Operator assistance is #OperHelp. IRC Operators will assist clients with nickname and channel registration, answer questions regarding services, and intervene in the event of violations of the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). IRC Operators will not involve themselves in nickname and/or channel disputes where a password has been released to another user. In some instances, IRC Operators will provide technical advice for software or hardware issues. Striked is not responsible for this advice and assumes no liability for damage to hardware or software as a result of using this technical assistance.
IV. Closure
This document serves as a guideline for acceptable use expectations and policies for the Striked IRC network. It is by no means inclusive of all details and subject to change and/or modification at any time without prior notification.
